God is Faithful

I lead the Hope Renewed Group at Eastridge Presbyterian church. and I had a little gift book for the new first granddaughter of one of our members. I didn't have time to deliver it until Dec. 23, 2011. Thank goodness I found her at work and gave her the gift. God knew something I didn't know because she wrote this back to me.

"Thank you again  for the sweet book for Phoebe (it was a HIT!) and the specially decorated candle.  You did it again, as that day you stopped at work (Dec 23rd) would have been our wedding anniversary..... what a lift your visit gave me! "

Isn't God wonderful with his timing! He knows everything!!

Article about "Drop Shot"

Second book published by Sandra Hilsabeck By Greg Bauer

Drop Shot, the second book written by Sandra Hilsabeck, contains a number of true stories from the tennis world. One of the most interesting elements of her book is the variety of people contacted and written about. They include linesman, tournament directors, club owners and directors, professional players and teachers, and coaches. The individual stories are related to scripture and provide material for the game plan of life.

Sandra loves tennis. She umpired, served as Lincoln and Nebraska tennis association president, co-chaired the campaign for new city courts and clubhouse, coached high school and college tennis, mentored young players, and taught hundreds of kids to play including at-risk children.
Besides teaching her children and playing regularly, Sandra volunteered in many tournament capacities and served as tournament director. She has been a certified tennis instructor for the PTR since 1990 and was inducted into the NTA Hall of Fame in 1997.

Those who have read her book have some great things to say.--

"I started to read Drop Shot and I didn't want to put it down until it was finished. It is a most delightful book and I give it my highest rating of any book. The reading goes along smoothly and it is most informative as well as having lessons for life for each reader." Beryl Boerner

"You have devoted so much time, energy, and most of all love, in the compilation of really great life stories. What a pleasure to read." Jean and Jim Sheffield

A number of stores in the Lincoln area are carrying "Drop Shot" like the Raquet Corner and Woods Tennis Center. It is also sold at Centre Court tennis store in Omaha, the Red Shed in Holdrege, Solid Rock in Kearney, and even the PTR Bookstore at Hilton Head Island, SC. Drop Shot can also be purchased at Amazon.com, Crosstraining publishing and sandrastenniscorner.com

Interesting Read

Your book (Drop Shot)
is a labor of love.  As I knew most of the people you mention in the
book, it was an interesting read.

US Open in NYC

Angela, my daughter-in-law and Celia, her ten-year old, from Texas accompanied me to the U.S. Open in New York City. We saw Federer, Nadal, Venus and Serena and a myriad of other players. Can you believe Oudin and Del Potro? The U.S. Open site gets better everytime I go there.

Biking in NYC is fantastic. On bicycles we saw the 911 site and Battery Park along with other parks along the Hudson River. The roads in Central Park were closed to cars the day we rode there because Whitney Houston was giving a free concert. The line was a mile long or we would have enjoyed hearing her. Instead we rode the entire park, stopped at museums and dined at Tavern on the Greens.

We recommend Furgal's International Tennis Tours!

I started reading your book and couldn't quit until 2:00 A.M. I didn't want to put it down. It makes you look at things in a different perspective.

From John Cook, University of Nebraska Volleyball coach

I look forward to reading it and sharing with others.

Remarks from Long Time Player and Coach at Crete, NE

Hi sandy,
Just wanted to let you know I got your book and  Congratulations on your publication. I haven't read the whole book yet, but i did read  chapter four about Henry cox. I met Henry in my early years of tennis and he was always so nice to me.  Not being from nebraska I knew nothing about his background. He certainly is an inspiration and it was wonderful of you to honor him with a chapter.

From Cindy Babb

I have already read "Drop Shot Lady" and definitely enjoyed reading it. I am now going through from the beginning. I love your perspective both on tennis and life.

What a great surprise I had yesterday...

I just returned from Lake Charles, LA where I did the "Bijou Show" with Henri at the grand opening of a Club and also clinics with Todd Martin and Wayne Ferreira. It was great.

I left LA at 6am to get home and we decided to go to Church and meet my son, his wife, his daughter and Claudia and her fiancee. After that we met at our home for lunch. As I was looking at the mail received, I saw the package with your book. To the surprise of all, I opened the book and found the story you published. My son Tony, who had the AVM and, daughter Claudia, who had the cancer were with us. God put this script together so we could share this special moment. I read most of the story to them, and when I was losing it, my wife Frances finished the story. We all had tears in our eyes and it was even more exciting to glance at the back of the book and find the picture there!!

I took the book to my other daughter, who is also a very strong Christian, and we had a good time reading it. Thanks for allowing me to share this small story with your readers, and my family.

Thanks again Sandra, and may God give you many blessings in return for doing this wonderful book. I cannot wait to read it from cover to cover since you have stories of many of my fellow tennis pro friends and personal friends. Fernando

From Son in Texas

Hi Mom - I need another book!  I'm giving one to the president of our company.  Let me know if you can help me out.  Thanks!!
