The clinic in 2010 was the best ever because of the wonderful help from the FCA staff and volunteers.
Robbie Trent, Anna White, and Adrian Brandt provided the food, gave wonderful drill messages about playing for Jesus instead of yourself and provided great messages and huddles for the kids.
Volunteers Jeri Timmons, Marsha Turbett, Nadia Gove, Bill North, Barb Schultz, Michelle Talerico, Luke Megrue and Scott Andrews made the day special. Mike Magnuson came to help but we had so many volunteers making a ratio of about 1 to 3 students, we released him.
Ron Schultz of Racquet Corner, Scott Andrews and Lincoln Tennis Assocation each gave $250 sponsoring the event which helped with registration costs, Bibles, t-shirts, racquets and food. Kevin Heim provided the courts and purchased the racquets to give each child.
Mary Weatherholts gave her testimony after lunch. She played #1 and #2 positions for the Huskers last year.
Sandy Myers and Bob Beaver sent students from Parks & Rec centers - Irving, Air Park, F Street and Belmont. Their leaders, Jeremy, Kristin, Tyler and Chrissy helped throughout the day.
A great big thanks to all.

Sandy -
Good morning! I hope your weekend was delightful. I just wanted to thank you again for the long lunch on Friday. That night I re-read some parts of your book and wanted to tell you that even five minutes of picking it up these days is so strengthening and uplifting -- Like "All is Well," and "Rejoicing will come." It's a little odd, but those simple thoughts (that I need to cling to) seem to be so easily forgotten, especially when I let myself worry - so the book gets me to a better mind set quickly!
Or even the hard truths - like your comment as you remember the horrifying moments of discovering "I am living alone now," sharing those things with us readers helps me to realize that the exact same thing has been experienced by others. And they are surviving, carried in love and support, and being healed. Victory! :)
Christ's Blessings,

Nebraska women are again descending on Kansas City Plaza courts for a weekend of great NTRP tournament play. Here are some photos of 2009 play. Maybe we can take all the gold balls this year.
Number 1 players in several Events
March 2010
I just returned from the Houston Racquet Club where I played against the #1 player in the world in the 55 and over tennis rankings. We also saw the #1 in the world in the 65 and over level play. Believe it or not, she was winning the hugh draw of 38 women. Once we entered the consolation we found players we could hang with.
The best part of the tournament was the ladies. They were all great sportwomen, making fair calls and welcoming us. They showed great interest in my book "Drop Shot" and felt it really told their story in tennis as they read it. May each of them be blessed in a closer relationship to Jesus because of it.
Interesting Read
Your book (Drop Shot)
is a labor of love. As I knew most of the people you mention in the
book, it was an interesting read.

Andy Roddick accepted being my friend on Facebook
I opened my email and there it was. Andy's message that he accepted me as a friend. He has over 3,000 friends so I am not unique but enjoy being one of them.
I watched his match entirely at the Australian Open. He showed so much grit and finished his match even though he might be injured. I hope he will be healed and ready to play again soon. We love having a person born in Nebraska on the tour. He is a great American and a good representative of our state.
Christmas play by grandchildren was a great success
The Christmas play by our grandchildren was a great success. Bryce had Hale Hilsabeck playing Colonel Jessie Cartwright, Alex Lentfer playing Corbin Crafty, Jackson Hilsabeck playing Bo Bravely the hero, Celia Hilsabeck playing Tess Trueheart the heroine, Isabelle Lentfer playing Rachel Ray and Sidney Hilsabeck playing Betty Beauty. Grandaughter Allison Lentfer is in college and not participating this year.
Corbin Crafty has a sinister scheme which is foiled by Betty Beauty, Tess and Bo. In the end Corbin repents.
We read over the lines at the neighbors last night and they loaned us 4 hats for the players to use in their costumes. Already laughs have been had.
Plan to have your children do a play next year, it is so fun.
Drills by Wayne Bryan used for Mike and Bob Bryan
Two drills Wayne Bryan told us about at the Awards Dinner which are fun and definitely will help my ball handling skills and speed are these: passing the ball from racquet to racquet at increasing distances without touching the ball or having the ball touch the ground and shuffling back and forth on the service line while trying to hit to partner who is also shuffling.Nebraska Awards Dinner
Wayne Bryan was all that he was expected to be. The 180 tennis Nebraskans that met at Beacon Hills in Lincoln had a great time. He even had us doing musical chairs. He is such a great guy.
At the drill clinics he provided fun with the "Circle of Fear" (if you want to know more about this contact me). And he also demonstrated to us how skilled 10 year olds can catch a tennis ball on their racquet across 3 courts cate-cornered without touching the ball with their hands.
The buffet was good and many deserving players and workers received awards for 2009.

US Open in NYC

Angela, my daughter-in-law and Celia, her ten-year old, from Texas accompanied me to the U.S. Open in New York City. We saw Federer, Nadal, Venus and Serena and a myriad of other players. Can you believe Oudin and Del Potro? The U.S. Open site gets better everytime I go there.
Biking in NYC is fantastic. On bicycles we saw the 911 site and Battery Park along with other parks along the Hudson River. The roads in Central Park were closed to cars the day we rode there because Whitney Houston was giving a free concert. The line was a mile long or we would have enjoyed hearing her. Instead we rode the entire park, stopped at museums and dined at Tavern on the Greens.
We recommend Furgal's International Tennis Tours!

I started reading your book and couldn't quit until 2:00 A.M. I didn't want to put it down. It makes you look at things in a different perspective. From John Cook, University of Nebraska Volleyball coach
I look forward to reading it and sharing with others.Remarks from Long Time Player and Coach at Crete, NE
Hi sandy,
Just wanted to let you know I got your book and Congratulations on your publication. I haven't read the whole book yet, but i did read chapter four about Henry cox. I met Henry in my early years of tennis and he was always so nice to me. Not being from nebraska I knew nothing about his background. He certainly is an inspiration and it was wonderful of you to honor him with a chapter.
From Beryl Boerner
I started to read Drop Shot and I didn't want to put it down until it was finished. It is a most delightful book and I give it my highest rating of any book. The reading goes along smoothly and it is most informative as well as having lessons for life for each reader. From Cindy Babb
I have already read "Drop Shot Lady" and definitely enjoyed reading it. I am now going through from the beginning. I love your perspective both on tennis and life. What a great surprise I had yesterday...
I just returned from Lake Charles, LA where I did the "Bijou Show" with Henri at the grand opening of a Club and also clinics with Todd Martin and Wayne Ferreira. It was great.
I left LA at 6am to get home and we decided to go to Church and meet my son, his wife, his daughter and Claudia and her fiancee. After that we met at our home for lunch. As I was looking at the mail received, I saw the package with your book. To the surprise of all, I opened the book and found the story you published. My son Tony, who had the AVM and, daughter Claudia, who had the cancer were with us. God put this script together so we could share this special moment. I read most of the story to them, and when I was losing it, my wife Frances finished the story. We all had tears in our eyes and it was even more exciting to glance at the back of the book and find the picture there!!
I took the book to my other daughter, who is also a very strong Christian, and we had a good time reading it. Thanks for allowing me to share this small story with your readers, and my family.
Thanks again Sandra, and may God give you many blessings in return for doing this wonderful book. I cannot wait to read it from cover to cover since you have stories of many of my fellow tennis pro friends and personal friends. Fernando
From Son in Texas
